Tonika Lewis Johnson has a proven track record of generating public engagement through her art and personal history. As a part of her 2021 Artist As Instigator residency at the NPHM, Johnson is advancing her latest project, Inequity for Sale, a public art project which will comprise 10-15 life-sized land markers, a website documenting homes, sites, and stories, as well as a self-guided walking tour that connects historic legalized theft with present-day conditions in Greater Englewood.

Notice: Inequity for Sale will serve as a public hearing to launch the project, inviting special guests collaborators, scholars, civic leaders, advocates, and activists, as well as members of the local community and broader public, to weigh in on how Inequity for Sale might bring awareness and be a resource to current and future organizing and advocacy for fair housing and a more equitable economy.
